Below is a paper I wrote that I thought was interesting and thought provoking. In this paper I am answering the question, should there be a seperation of religion and state in today's western civilization. Check it out and tell me what you think, oh and at the end I put a clip of a movie that I think emphasize my point. Hope you enjoy and as always, "IT IS THE TRUTH ANYWAY" or "IS IT" . 'NOW PRESENTING MR.CHURCH AND MISS STATE, MR AND MRS NATION'

I have learned a lot about different religions and as I think on what I have learned, I see one great similarity them all. That resemblance is that when you pluck away all the fluff and see through all the hype, all religions seems to be on a search for peace. Now just as great as the likeness lies a gaping difference. That difference is which path to take to get to this glorious tranquility.

Now I have been posed with a question, "should there be a separation of church and state. In order to even begin to touch this inquiry, I need to examine 'the state". As I look at the state and all its complexity, I began to notice a familiar pattern. It's the same pattern that religion lays out, which is to obtain and live in peace.

Peace" a calm and quiet state, free from disturbances or noise". Peace" a state of mental calm and serenity, with no anxiety." Peace "freedom from conflict or disagreement among people or groups of people." It is apparent that both church and state, preaches a road to peace.

Now having stated that, I believe that there is, should be, and always will be a "separation of church and state". The reason for this fact is quite simple. After you get off of the roller coaster and maze that 'the state' seems to insist you ride and regain your sense of discernment, it is easy to see the this so called 'state' is nothing but another form of religion itself . And just like all religions, even though they may be tolerant of others belief, every religion believes that its path or truth to peace is the best (else they wouldn't be on it).  This superiority belief in it self creates the separation just as the stoppage of the tide creates the seashore.

Religion "a set of strongly-held beliefs, values, and attitudes that somebody lives by", is the most powerful force in any organize society and any form of living that people use to decide their actions is just another form of this many headed dragon called religion. We here in western civilization have this delusion that we have evolved beyond the primitive notion of a 'deity' controlling our lives, not realizing that just as every society that has ever existed, we must believe in something that is bigger than life itself, something that transcends life therefore greater than death (for we know all must die), something that is able to keep us united as one people both now and after we have gone. For we know that there is security ( a form of peace) in unity. And as no matter how we phrase this 'something' it becomes a deity and governs our lives. I think a quote from Star Trek's Mr. Spock says it best "the needs of the many out weigh the needs of the one". To me that is church and state united but we called it nations.
